Show how close you are to a goal#
Imagine a goal of 10,000 steps. At 5,000 steps, a progress ring is half full; at the goal, it is full. The number tells you how much you did, and the filled shape makes the proportion easier to see.
A Ring uses a circle, a Progress Bar uses a bar, and a Gauge uses a dial-like shape. You can connect one to a live number, or set a fixed percentage just to make a design.
Open a saved widget in Library, then tap Design Visually. After adding a ring, bar, or gauge, select it and tap Progress in the toolbar. Choose the value first, then what counts as full. Setting a goal here changes the picture, not your Health records.
To find Add, tap the empty canvas outside the widget preview to leave any selection. Add appears in the toolbar below the preview. Once you add a piece, select it to open its own tools.
Add a ring, bar, or gauge#
Open Add → Charts and tap Ring, Progress Bar, or Gauge. Gauge opens the Live Data picker so you can choose its value. Select the added layer and open Progress.
Choose how full it is#
Select the ring, bar, or gauge, tap Progress in the toolbar, then tap How full it is inside the panel.
- Fixed value
- Tap Fixed value and set its percentage. For example, 50% fills half the shape. This value stays as you set it.
- Live data
- Tap Live data, choose a value in the picker, and use its Use button. A number such as steps can fill toward a goal; a value already expressed as a percentage has a full value of 100%.
Set the goal#
Open Progress → Full at. Depending on the field, use its goal, a suggested goal, or My own. Set your own value with the control that appears.
For example, a steps ring fills as the current step count approaches the goal you choose. Changing the goal changes the ring’s fill; it does not change the source value.
Change its appearance#
Select the ring, bar, or gauge before opening these controls:
- Thickness
- Open Progress → Thickness and drag the ruler to make the filled shape thinner or thicker.
- Colors
- Open Progress → Colors. The filled part shows the amount reached; the track is the unfilled part behind it. Set their colors here.
- Position & Size
- Open Position & Size in the toolbar, then Move or Size to place the whole ring, bar, or gauge.
Use progress inside a list#
Add a progress layer with Add to row → Charts. The picker can offer a value from This event or another current item. Each row then fills from its own item. Some item types use their own goal; others let the list share a goal.
