A calendar you can design#
A calendar puts dates together as a month, a week, or a year. Use it when you want to see where today sits in the week, spot upcoming plans, or mark important days on the same view.
You can show dates alone, or add details to each date, such as event dots or a weather value. Event dots mark days that have events; they are different from a list of event names and times.
Open your saved widget in Library, then tap Design Visually. After you add a calendar, select it to see Calendar, Text, and Days in the toolbar. Calendar chooses the view; Days chooses the marks and details on the dates; Text changes the type.
To find Add, tap the empty canvas outside the widget preview to leave any selection. Add appears in the toolbar below the preview. Once you add a piece, select it to open its own tools.
Add a calendar#
Tap Calendar
Open Add → Text & Data → Calendar.
Pick a starting style
Tap a style to see it on your widget.
Tap Add calendar
The calendar becomes a layer you can edit. Tap Save to keep it.
Choose what it shows#
Select the calendar on the canvas, then tap Calendar in the toolbar. Inside that panel, use:
- Shows
- Tap Calendar → Shows. Choose Month, This week, Two weeks, Year, or Countdown. A month can show last, this, or next month. Week views offer this or next week.
- Weeks
- Tap Calendar → Weeks to set the first day of the week, week numbers, and dates from neighboring months. The available options depend on the view.
- Title
- Tap Calendar → Title to change the heading and its note—for example, the text above a month.
- Day names
- Tap Calendar → Day names to change the weekday labels and the line beneath them. This button appears for month and week views.
Mark the days#
Select the calendar, then tap Days in the toolbar. This is a separate tool from Calendar. Inside its panel, use:
- Today
- Tap Days → Today to choose a mark around today and its color. Grid calendars can also highlight this week.
- Each day
- Tap Days → Each day to choose the details under or behind dates. Event dots mark plans, moon phases show the moon, and weather or Health options add those sources’ values.
- Past
- Tap Days → Past to change dates that have already passed.
- Weekends
- Tap Days → Weekends to make weekend dates look different.
- Special days
- Tap Days → Special days to choose the saved dates whose icons appear. Add or edit Special days.
A year view has fewer day controls. A countdown uses Special days rather than the month’s day controls.
Show events, weather, or Health#
In Days → Each day, choose an event, weather, or Health option. The app then offers the controls that apply: calendar filters, access, a Health measurement, and a goal.
Event markers can use each calendar’s color. Weather needs location access. Health rings and color maps use the selected daily measurement. Turn off Sample data to preview your own values.
Change the type and position#
Text changes the calendar numbers’ font, weight, size, and color. Position & Size changes where the calendar sits and how much space it has. A title or mark that has little room may need a wider calendar or smaller type.
